October Horror 2020

Split Tooth Media’s second annual October Horror series returns with a vengeance

(Video by Jim Hickcox)

Horror films provide a space for artists and viewers to process the grotesqueries that should ideally never occur in our own reality, but 2020 has tested the boundaries between real and imagined terrors. In this pandemic year of quarantine, wildfires, civil unrest, conspiracy theories, bubble basketball, and ceaseless partisan politics, existing in this landscape has been its own special fright fest.

For last year’s inaugural October Horror, we featured an essay about a horror movie every day, plus Cinesthesia tackled a different Stephen King adaptation in the daily Hell to the King podcast series. This year’s series is more compact, but it will cover a greater range of topics.

From Bob Hope’s mansion to The Last House on Dead End Street, the terror reaches everywhere this year. Follow along as we highlight more of our offbeat favorites, some unknown gems, and a few exploitation classics in Split Tooth Media Presents: October Horror 2020. This list will be updated daily as more titles are added.
